Education:
I graduated from Blue Mountain College summa cum laude in 2007 with a B.S. in Music Education, emphasis in piano. I have studied voice with Dr. Jerri Lamar Kantack (BMC) & Dr. Sipley (NWCC) and piano from Mrs. June Meyer and Dr. Jeremy Owens (BMC). I student-taught under Mrs. Sherry Freeman at Hernando High School and Mr. Reese Norris at Hernando Middle School. I am certified K-12 in Instrumental/Voice and I am National Board Certified in Early/Middle Childhood Music Education. I continue to educate myself by keeping an active membership in Mississippi Music Educators Association (MMEA), National Association of Music Educators (NAfME), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), attending annual music workshops, and collaborating with other music teachers in Mississippi.

Experience:
I have been teaching piano lessons since 1999 which inspired me to become a music teacher. I have been playing piano in church since I was 14 years old. After completing my college degree, I taught in Tate County Schools. I have been teaching music to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at SIS since 2008. I am the North Site Chair for Mississippi Music Educators Association and organize a yearly workshop for music educators in North Mississippi. I have acted in Desoto Family Theatre's (DFT) productions "South Pacific" as a nurse and have played in the orchestra for "Shenandoah" and "The Sound of Music." I enjoy creating lessons that are interactive and engaging and believe students learn best when actively participating and creating music. I pull from my past experiences to create fun lessons that teach students the basics in music to prepare them for choir, band, and theatre.
